MI CASA TERM 3 (3).png

About Us

In 2019, I felt the need to make a difference in the Oscar Industry, to offer a programme that focuses on smaller numbers, to provide quality care for each child, and to provide a safe, nurturing environment that is both fun and creative.

Our Staff reflect our philosophy; therefore, they must comply with our policies and implement them to the highest level.  All staff are Police Checked and must have enough knowledge and maturity to look after children and understand their needs.  We have seen many families grow in the Northcote area, so opening an after-school care in Northcote just made sense.

You are welcome to pop in to meet me and my staff,

Jansyl Andrews,

Director of Mi Casa ASC Ltd

Jansyl Andrews

I'm originally from Chile. My background is Latin Dance teacher. I lived in Autralia for 15 years where I started the first Street Latin Dance Studio in the country in 1993 (Salsambada Dance Studio). In 2010 I visited New Zealand for Holidays and decided to stay 'a bit' longer... the rest is story...got married to a kiwi and I have a beautiful 11 year old New Zealand born boy. I have always been an entrepreneur and always had new ideas for new businesses ...I guess I just wanted to make things better, improvements & to make a difference in this world...been able to see the results after the hard work, is my biggest reward & satisfaction. I Love children, they are honest and i love their curiosity to explore and discover the world... I love their sense of humor...its so brutal...but so true!! I love creating new activities and been able to put a smile on their little faces. I worked as a for Barnardos New Zealand for 5 years. After that I helped to start up a brand new After School and HP business in Northcote, Auckland. I Worked as an after School and Holiday Programme manager for 7 years in Auckland. I'm currently a Teacher Aid at St Mary's Primary School in Northcote...this is my Day Job...and I Love my job!...its an amazing compliment to my career as an After School and Holiday Programme business owner. I decided to start my own business Mi Casa after school and Holiday Programme in November 2019 - as I felt there was a 'A DESPERATE NEED' to improve this industry. a 'Home away from Home, a warm environment, welcoming & inclusive Programme, where children did not feel lost among the others. This is how the name 'Mi Casa (My Home) started....and this is how the business started too... Part of Mi Casa philosophy is to include each individual child and to 'listen' to their individual needs, encouraging them to respect and follow our values and principals, always remembering to respect our staff members at Mi Casa, respect themselves and to respect each other. At Mi Casa some of us are teachers, some have the vocation of caring for children ...and most of us are Mums... and we all are well trained to understand children's needs. I believe we need to work together as a team (staff, Management, school and whanao) its is a joined effort... and communication is the main factor to improve children's well being, safety, growth and to find solutions in challenging situations. Mi Casa is commited to working together with the whānau & our community to make Mi Casa a better 'Home'...a better place...a better world for our children - Our Future. When children leave school (after 3pm) and come to Mi Casa, they should still continue learning & growing in a fun & safe environment. Please come and see us, First session is free for After school care new entrants.

Jennifer Abuyog

My name is Jennifer Abuyog, and I bring 14 years of heartfelt experience in various educational settings. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, and a New Zealand Qualification Authority (NZQA) at level 7 for Primary. Throughout my teaching journey, I've learned the importance of adaptability in nurturing the unique gifts of every child. I truly believe that each child is special, with their own learning style and needs. I strive to create a warm, inclusive classroom environment where every child feels valued and safe. I know that children thrive when they can explore, learn, and play in a joyful and engaging atmosphere. That's why play-based learning is at the core of my teaching approach; it allows children to connect with their curiosity and discover the world around them. Currently, I have the privilege of working as a teacher aide at Wairau Valley Special School, and I am also a Programme Leader at Mi Casa After School, where my passion truly shines. There's nothing quite like the joy I feel when I see the spark in a child's eyes as they grasp something new. My sincere goal is to provide each child with the care, safety, and happiness they deserve in their everyday learning experiences.
